Bonefish habitat is widespread in Andros and is primarily made up of turtle grass, sand, mud and mangroves. This habitat can be found within tidal creeks, cuts, and bights found running East West throughout the island, as well as within the flats, which cover the entire western, southern and northern sides of the island. Andros Island is not called the 'Bonefishing Capital of the World' without reason. The flats of Andros are world-renown for fly fishing and make up the entire west, south and north coast of the island. Bonefishing also takes place within the tidal creeks, cuts and bights which run straight through North, Central, and South Andros. On the east side of the island, massive tidal creeks extend nearly to the west side of the island and with depths of 3 to 10 feet. |
